How Storefront orders import
Every five minutes SKU.io reads the orders your store created or changed since the last check, keeps a copy of each on the store's Orders tab, and turns each one that's ready into a SKU.io sales order.
Which orders become sales orders
| Store order | Becomes a sales order? |
|---|---|
| Paid, processing, partially fulfilled or fulfilled | Yes |
| Awaiting payment, paid by invoice | Yes. The store takes the payment later, and SKU.io records it when it arrives |
| Awaiting payment at a card checkout | No. It's a checkout the buyer abandoned, and the list shows Not importable |
| Canceled or refunded | No. The list shows Not importable |
| Placed before the integration's Start Date | No. It isn't imported at all |
| Archived in SKU.io | No, until you unarchive it |
If you turned on Restrict sales order creation until all products are mapped, an order with a product SKU.io can't match is held back until you map it. See Fetch orders and send tracking to Storefront.
What the sales order holds
- Customer: the SKU.io customer with the buyer's email, or a new one named after the buyer.
- Lines: one per product. A product that isn't mapped becomes a line with only a description, until you map it.
- Shipping and tax: lines on the order.
- Discount: an order discount named after the store's discount code.
- Payment: recorded on the sales order when the store order is paid.
Order numbers
SKU.io writes the sales order number back to the store as the order's reference, and the store shows it on its own order screens. The store's own numbers, such as LB-1001, come from the store: the prefix and starting number are set in the store's configuration by whoever builds the store, not in SKU.io.
Cancellations and payments
- Cancel an order in the store, and SKU.io cancels its sales order on the next check.
- Cancel the sales order in SKU.io, and the store cancels its order on the next check. If the store refuses, for example because the order has shipped, the order says so and its Activity Log shows Cancellation rejected.
- A payment you record in SKU.io for an unpaid store order marks the store order paid.
These ride on the order check, so they stop while Import orders from Storefront is off or the schedule is paused.
Customers
The Customers tab lists everyone who has ordered, collected from their orders: the store has no customer list of its own to read. Each buyer's details follow their latest order, and SKU Customer links to the SKU.io customer their sales orders go to.
