EasyPost
EasyPost is a multi-carrier shipping service. You connect your own EasyPost account, and SKU.io asks it for carrier rates whenever you need to know what a shipment will cost. Getting rates is free on every EasyPost plan. You pay EasyPost only for labels you buy, and the rates you see are the ones your EasyPost carrier accounts give you, contract rates included.
What SKU.io uses EasyPost for
| Where | What you get |
|---|---|
| Sales orders and quotes | Quote shipping gets rates for the order's products and ship-to address, and adds the one you pick as a Shipping charge. See Quote shipping on a sales order or quote. |
| Customer Portal | Portal shipping methods can charge buyers a live carrier rate at checkout. See Price shipping on the Customer Portal. |
| Amazon FBA inbound | Estimate transport costs on an inbound plan's placement step uses your own rates. Without an EasyPost connection it still works, with reference rates from SKU.io's account. See Send stock to FBA with an inbound plan. |
| Dropship | Buying shipping labels for your dropship vendors. The labels are billed to your EasyPost account. See How dropship shipping labels work. |
Sales orders, quotes and the portal use only your own account. Until you connect, those screens show a short prompt to connect EasyPost instead of rates, and your buyers never see it.
Test keys and production keys
Your API key decides what you get back:
- A production key starts with
EZAK. It returns your real rates, and lists your carrier accounts on the EasyPost page. - A test key starts with
EZTK. It returns sample rates, so you can try everything out. Every screen that shows a test rate marks it Test key, and the Customer Portal never shows test rates to buyers. EasyPost doesn't list carrier accounts for test keys.
To switch, paste the other key into Replace API key on the EasyPost page and click Save.
Where to find it
Go to Apps & Integrations → All Integrations, and choose EasyPost under Shipping & Fulfillment. You can connect one EasyPost account. The page shows the connection, whether the key is a test key or a production key, and the carrier accounts rates come from. Add or remove carriers in your EasyPost dashboard.
