Recalculate the plan and fix calculation problems
A send plan is a snapshot of stock and sales at one moment. Recalculate it whenever things have moved: after receiving stock, after a sales spike, after changing your Network rules, or before you draft shipments from a plan that's a day or more old. Recalculating releases the stock you allocated for lines you haven't drafted yet, so recalculate first and allocate afterwards. This page covers recalculating, refreshing a network's numbers, and what to do when a calculation fails or leaves something out.
Before you begin
- You need the Send Planner → Edit permission to recalculate or refresh. Without it, the buttons are greyed out with You need the Send Planner edit permission.
- If you're previewing tuning, Apply & recalculate recalculates with it. A plain Recalculate keeps the plan's saved tuning but not your unsaved preview. See Tune the plan.
Recalculate the plan
- Go to Inventory → Send Planner.
- Click Recalculate. Its tooltip says what it does: Read fresh stock and sales and calculate a new plan.
- Watch the Calculating send plan #N card for progress, or leave the page. The calculation runs in the background.
- When it finishes, the new plan replaces the old one and a message says Send plan recalculated.
On a phone, Recalculate is in the More actions menu (the three dots) at the top of the page.
While it calculates
A message confirms the start: Calculating the send plan — track progress in the job tray. The Calculating send plan #N card shows a progress bar and the same numbered stages as the job tray:
- Finding products and networks
- Reading stock, velocity and splitting the pool
- Applying network capacity
- Summarising
You can leave this page. The card names the job, such as Tracked job #412, and the job tray lists it as Send Plan: plan #N. The result appears in the job tray, and the last completed plan stays visible below the card, dimmed, until the new one finishes. When it's done, the job tray says how it came out, such as 23,791 units to send across 4 networks; 3 SKUs short. See Follow background jobs.
Only one calculation of the working plan runs at a time. While one is running, Recalculate is greyed out with A plan is already calculating, and if a colleague starts one at the same moment, theirs joins the one already running. Cancelling the calculation in the job tray stops it, and the plan shows as failed with Cancelled; recalculate to try again.
What a recalculation keeps
- Your edits. Quantities you changed by hand stay fixed in the new plan, for the same SKU and network, and the other networks share what's left. See Edits carried forward to the next plan.
- Applied tuning. Settings you applied from Tune plan, or from a scenario you promoted, stay with the working plan, and the Tuned chip beside the title lists them. To recalculate without them, click Tuned, then Reset to Network rules. See What a promoted scenario or applied tuning leaves on the working plan.
What a recalculation releases
- Allocations of lines that aren't drafted yet. When the new plan takes over, every allocation you placed with Allocate stock on a line without a shipment draft is released, and the stock is free again. If you allocated on Monday and recalculate on Tuesday, allocate again on the new plan.
- Not the allocations of drafted AWD sends and manual sends. Those keep their allocation until the planner's timer, Release unused allocations after (hours), runs out or the network takes over. See When allocations end.
To keep stock set aside for a send you're about to make, recalculate first, then allocate on the new plan, or draft the lines before you recalculate.
Which products are planned
The plan includes every product that has stock at one of your ship-from warehouses, or stock or sales at a network that's switched on. See A product is missing from the plan if one you expect isn't there.
Refresh a network's stock
The planner uses the stock each network last reported. Amazon FBA and Walmart WFS stock can be refreshed from the planner: FBA by asking Amazon for a new FBA inventory report, WFS by syncing WFS inventory from Walmart. Amazon AWD, TikTok FBT and transfers to your own warehouses can't be refreshed from here: sync them from their integration pages, then recalculate.
The refresh button appears when a plan fails because a network's stock is out of date; see the next section.
The plan could not be calculated
If the newest calculation fails, a red alert appears under the header, and the chip next to the title reads Last good plan · …. The plan you see is the last one that worked; nothing you'd done is lost.
The alert says The plan could not be calculated. with the reason. Click Recalculate in the alert to try again with the same settings.
Network stock is out of date
The most common reason is old network stock. If a network's stock hasn't been refreshed for longer than Network stock is out of date after (hours) in Network rules (24 hours by default), the plan stops rather than send based on numbers that may be wrong. The alert says The plan could not be calculated: network stock is out of date. and lists each network with its reason, such as:
- No FBA inventory report has been imported yet.
- FBA inventory was last refreshed 2 days ago (older than 24 hours).
- AWD inventory has not been captured from Amazon yet.
- FBT inventory was last synced 3 days ago — refresh it on the FBT Inventory page.
To fix it:
- In the alert, click Refresh Amazon FBA US inventory (the button names the network). It changes to Refreshing Amazon FBA US… and the refresh shows in the job tray.
- Wait for the refresh to finish. A message says Network stock refreshed — recalculate to plan with it., and a blue notice says The network's stock was refreshed. Recalculate so the plan uses the new numbers.
- Click Recalculate now.
When a network can't be refreshed from the planner, its button is greyed out with the reason, such as Amazon AWD US can't be refreshed from here — sync it from its integration page, then recalculate. Sync it from that network's own pages, then click Recalculate. If a refresh is already running, the button says A refresh is already running — track it in the job tray.
For keeping FBA and AWD stock current, see Turn on FBA inventory tracking and Track AWD inventory.
Plan anyway with out-of-date network stock
If you can't refresh the network right now, click Plan anyway in the alert. The plan calculates with the stock as it is, and:
- The chip next to the title reads Old network stock · … while the plan is under 72 hours old. Its tooltip says to refresh and recalculate for exact numbers.
- The Notes say, for example, Amazon FBA US stock is out of date. FBA inventory was last refreshed 2 days ago. Its numbers may be too high.
- That network's lines get the Stale data flag, so they show under the Exceptions quick filter.
- That network's why N? cards in the Why these numbers drawer add Stock at this network is stale; planned anyway.
The numbers may be too high, because the network may have received or sold stock since. Refresh and recalculate before you draft.
Scenarios never stop for old network stock: they always plan anyway. Send runs have their own Plan anyway; see Work through a send run.
A network was left out
If the planner can't read a network at all, it doesn't fail the whole plan. It leaves that network out and plans the rest as usual. An amber alert says Amazon FBA US was left out of this plan. (or N networks were left out of this plan.), Every other network planned as usual; nothing is sent to it until it can be read., and gives each network's reason, such as:
- TikTok Shop connection is missing FBT permission — reconnect
- This FBT warehouse is not linked to a TikTok Shop connection.
- Could not read network: and the error.
The left-out network has no column in the grid, and its share of the stock goes to the other networks. Fix the connection, then recalculate. For TikTok, see Connect TikTok Shop.
The send plan could not be loaded
If the page itself can't load the plan, for example because the connection dropped, it says The send plan could not be loaded. with the reason and a Try again button. The page never shows an empty planner in that case, so you won't mistake a loading problem for having no plan. Click Try again.
Refresh the marketplace's suggestions
The plan compares itself with Amazon's Restock report and Walmart's restock recommendations; see The network's own suggestion. Each connection has a note in the plan's Notes with a chip showing how old the numbers are, such as Amazon data: under 1 h old or No Walmart data yet. The chip turns amber after 24 hours and red after 72.
- Click Notes on the plan summary to open the notes.
- Next to Amazon's Restock report is what the plan compares with. (or Walmart's), click Refresh. It changes to Refreshing…, and the request shows in the job tray. It takes a few minutes.
- When it finishes, a blue notice says Amazon's new Restock report is in. Recalculate so the plan uses the new numbers. (or Walmart's new restock recommendations are in.). Click Recalculate now.
One note covers a whole Amazon or Walmart connection, across all its marketplaces. Refresh is greyed out on a scenario, without the edit permission, or while a refresh is already running. If Amazon is already preparing a Restock report, the message says so and the report shows up when it's ready. If the refresh fails, the job tray says why. You can close the notice without recalculating.
Listings that aren't mapped to a product
A network can hold stock under a listing that isn't mapped to a SKU.io product. The planner can't count that stock or send to that listing. When it finds some, the Notes say, for example, 12 WFS listings hold 840 units but aren't mapped to a SKU.io product. The planner can't count or send to them until mapped.
- Click Notes to open the notes.
- Click Show SKUs to see up to 25 example listings, most available first, with Available and Inbound units. Click Hide SKUs to close the list.
- Click Map to a product next to a listing, or WFS inventory to open the full list, and map it.
- Recalculate the plan.
The note checks again a few minutes after you map listings on other pages. You can close it; it stays closed for those exact listings and comes back if a different set appears. It shows only for networks the plan covers that are switched on. For Amazon, see Map FNSKUs to products; for other channels, Browse your channel listings.
A product with no listing at a network
A product that isn't listed at a network gets nothing there: its cell is greyed out with Not listed on this network. List it at the network, then recalculate.
For TikTok FBT, a SKU must also be matched in FBT Goods. If it isn't, the planner still plans it, but when you create shipment drafts, that SKU is left out of the FBT draft with … goods not matched in FBT Goods or … is not listed on TikTok Shop, and stays pending in the plan. Match it, then click Retry on the draft. See Follow up on shipment drafts.
Products that don't fit Amazon AWD
AWD only takes items Amazon can sort automatically. A product larger than 18 × 14 × 8 inches, or heavier than 20 lb, isn't eligible for AWD, and its AWD cell is greyed out with the reason, such as Not AWD-sortable: 20 × 14 × 9 in exceeds 18 × 14 × 8 in. or Not AWD-sortable: 24 lb exceeds 20 lb. Dimensions in centimetres, millimetres, kilograms, grams or ounces are converted first. A product with no dimensions recorded is never blocked, so record dimensions on the product to get this check. See Product fields reference.
A product is missing from the plan
If a product you expect isn't in the grid, check these in order:
| Check | Fix |
|---|---|
| A filter or search is hiding it. | Look for active filter chips above the grid and clear them, or click the All quick filter. |
| The product is archived. | Unarchive it. |
| It's a matrix product (the parent of variations). | Parents are never planned; look for its variations. |
| It has no stock at any of your ship-from warehouses and no stock or sales at any network that's switched on, within the sales history window. | Receive stock, or wait for sales. |
| Its warehouse or network is excluded from planning, or it's excluded from that network under Product overrides. | Remove the exclusion. See Set product overrides and Choose where sends ship from. |
| You're viewing a scenario limited to some products. | Switch to the Working plan. |
After fixing the cause, click Recalculate.
