Track product performance with Product Analytics
Product Analytics answers three questions about your catalog: which products carry the business, which are growing, and which are fading. It ranks every product by sales, units, profit, and margin, compares the current period with an earlier one, and shows how fast each one sells through.
Before you begin
- You need access to Product Analytics.
- The figures come from your sales orders and purchase orders. SKU.io refreshes them every night. Data as of under the period shows when they were last refreshed.
Steps
- Go to Insights → Reports and open Product Analytics.
- Choose a comparison: YoY (the last 12 months against the 12 before), QoQ, MoM, or Custom for your own two periods. The dates being compared show at the top right.
- Under Growth basis, choose what growth is measured on: Sales, Units, Profit, or Margin.
- Read the tiles across the top: Sales Volume, Units Sold, Profit, and Active Products, each with its change against the earlier period.
- Check Hottest Products and Coldest Products for the products with the strongest growth and the steepest decline on your growth basis.
- Scan the Growth Heatmap: one row per product and one cell per month, green for growth and red for decline against the same month a year earlier. A New cell has activity but nothing to compare with.
- Use the Product Leaderboard to rank every product by Sales Vol, Units Sold, Purchase Vol, Profit, Margin %, Growth %, Sell-Through, On Hand, or Channels. Search for a product, or use Volume to hide low-volume products whose percentages swing widely.
- Click a product to open its own analytics, with its trend and its scorecard.
Read a product's scorecard
Each product's scorecard rates it on gross margin, return on the stock you hold (GMROI), sales growth, sell-through, stock cover, and return rate, and combines them into an overall grade. To change how much each measure counts, click Scorecard settings at the top of Product Analytics.
Next steps
- Find slipping suppliers with Supplier Analytics: the same view for suppliers.
- Analyze profitability and drill down to the order: margin by product down to each order.
- Rank suppliers and products by return with IRR Analytics: the return on cash tied up in each product.
