Attribute storage fees and ad spend to products
Storage and advertising are real costs of selling a product, but they arrive as one bill for the whole account. SKU.io can turn Amazon's storage fee and aged inventory surcharge reports, and your Amazon Ads spend, into cost entries that are already split across the products that incurred them. Each product's margin in the Profitability and Contribution Margin reports then carries its own share.
Before you begin
- Your Amazon connection is set up, and its FNSKUs are mapped to your products. A fee for an unmapped FNSKU can't be placed on a product.
- For ad spend, connect Amazon Ads. See Connect Amazon Ads and attribute spend.
Turn storage fees into cost entries
-
Go to Apps & Integrations → Amazon → FBA → Storage Fees.
-
Turn on Create cost entries from this report. The line under it changes to "On — reports become cost entries with allocations."

-
To build entries now from the reports already imported, click Process Cost Entries. It doesn't fetch anything new from Amazon.
-
Repeat on the Aged Inventory Surcharge tab for the long-term storage surcharge.
The switch is the same setting as Automatically create cost entries from FBA storage fee reports on the FBA Settings tab, and it applies to each Amazon connection separately.
What you get
- One cost entry per month, with the type Amazon FBA Storage Fees or Amazon Aged Inventory Surcharge.
- One allocation per product, carrying that product's fees for the month. Fees in another currency are converted, and the allocations add up to the entry exactly.
- A link back. On the Storage Fees list, the Cost Entry column links each fee row to its entry.
If Amazon revises a month's report, the next run rebuilds that month's entry and its allocations.
Fees that couldn't be placed
When a fee row's FNSKU isn't mapped to a product, its amount stays Unallocated on the entry, and the entry lists each unmatched FNSKU with its Product Name (from Amazon). Map them under FNSKU Product Mapper, then click Process Cost Entries again.
Estimates against what Amazon charged
The storage fee report is Amazon's estimate. Once the matching charge appears in a settlement, the entry shows Settlement Reconciliation: Estimated (report), Actual (settlement) and the Variance. Until then, it shows Awaiting Settlement. The monthly storage fee usually settles early in the following month, and the aged inventory surcharge in the same month. Reconciliation is shown for information. It doesn't change the entry or its allocations.
Ad spend
With Create cost entries from ad spend turned on for your Amazon Ads connection, each day's Sponsored Products spend becomes a cost entry of type Amazon Advertising, split across the products the advertised SKUs are matched to. Spend on unmatched SKUs stays unallocated until you match them. See Connect Amazon Ads and attribute spend.
3PL storage and other fees
Third-party warehouse invoices aren't read automatically. To place a 3PL's monthly storage invoice on the products stored there:
- Record the invoice as a cost entry.
- Allocate it to the products, by your own amounts or with Quantity Based or Volume Based across a document's lines.
For a large invoice broken down by SKU, use Import with the With Allocations format: one row per SKU, all sharing the invoice's Reference.
Per-order shipping charges from a 3PL are different. They belong on the sales order, as with VeraCore fulfillment costs.
