Set a warehouse's initial inventory

When you bring a warehouse online, its opening stock comes in through the Initial Inventory tab — one CSV per warehouse. This is the on-ramp used during onboarding, anchored to your inventory start date.

Steps

1. Open the warehouse and click the Initial Inventory tab.
2. Click Download Existing to get the current inventory as a CSV — the easiest template to edit.
3. Drag and drop your file (or click to upload). Only .csv files are accepted.

Counting from scratch? Use the stock-take template

Download Existing gives you the warehouse's current stock, which is empty for a new warehouse. To start from a blank count sheet instead, open an initial stock take for the warehouse and click Download template in its Import Items dialog. It lists every product you can count, with the warehouse and the Count As Of moment filled in: the end of the day before your inventory start date. See Import count lines from a spreadsheet.
