Create & edit a warehouse
Warehouses are where your stock lives — including virtual warehouses that represent a 3PL or Amazon FBA (see Set your foundation). Each warehouse carries the routing and dispatch behavior that decides how orders flow through it.
Supplier ship-from locations are separate — those live on the supplier record, as the Add Warehouse dialog itself reminds you.
Create a warehouse
- Go to Contacts → Warehouses.
- Click Add Warehouse.
- Enter the Name (required). The Type is Direct, a warehouse you operate. A 3PL warehouse is added by mapping it in that 3PL's integration instead. See How warehouse types work.
- Fill the address — Search Address autocompletes it, or enter the lines by hand.
- Click Save.
The warehouse dashboard
Opening a warehouse lands on its Dashboard: tiles for Inventory Value, Units Available, Today's Shipments, and Pending Inbound, a Warehouse Details card (address, contact, shipping provider, default destination), and Inventory Activity with shipment counts by period. The header shows the type, status, and whether auto-routing is on, plus Edit Details.
Edit details and behavior
Click Edit Details (or the Details card's Edit) to open the settings:
- Basic Information — name, Type (shown, not editable), Shipping Provider, Nominal Code Override (override the default inventory nominal-code mapping), Default Destination Warehouse (pre-filled as the Destination when you start a transfer from this warehouse), and Default Handling Days (the working days this warehouse needs before an order ships).
- Warehouse Settings — the automation toggles:
- Allow Automatic Routing — orders can be routed to this warehouse automatically. Turning it off removes the warehouse from Warehouse Priority in Settings → Fulfillment → Warehouses, so orders are only placed there by hand.
- Auto Dispatch Enabled — automatically dispatch orders when inventory is available.
- Partial Dispatch Enabled — allow partial shipments when full inventory isn't available.
- Exclude from Purchasing / Demand Planning — the warehouse's stock stays visible and reportable but doesn't reduce suggested supplier order quantities, and the Send Planner stops sending from it.
- Warehouse Locations — subdivide the warehouse into bins; see Manage warehouse locations.
- Shipping below zero (inventory debt) — whether a sale may ship from this warehouse without enough stock. Leave it on Use the company default unless this warehouse differs.
- Contact Information and Address.
Click Save Changes. Warehouse names must be unique — the save is rejected if another warehouse (including a supplier's ship-from warehouse) already uses the name.
Which of these settings to turn on depends on the warehouse's job. See Set up fulfillment and replenishment warehouses.
Next steps
- Set up fulfillment and replenishment warehouses — decide which warehouses ship orders and which only refill them.
- Manage warehouse locations — bins, zones, and barcodes.
- Set initial inventory — load opening stock.
- Archive or delete a warehouse — retire a warehouse you no longer use.
- Warehouse routing and the warehouse lock — how routing decides which warehouse fulfills an order.

Warehouses hold your stock — including virtual ones for 3PLs and FBA. Click Add Warehouse, name it, pick the type, and save. Each warehouse has a dashboard — inventory value, available units, shipments, and pending inbound. Edit Details controls behavior — shipping provider, transfer destination, and the automation toggles for routing and dispatch.
