Create a role
A role is a named bundle of permissions you assign to users, so a warehouse picker, a bookkeeper, and a buyer each see only what their job needs. You build a role by naming it and ticking the permissions it should grant.
Before you begin
- You need permission to manage roles (an Admin, or a role that grants it).
- Granular permissions must be enabled for your account. Once enabled, SKU.io seeds a Full Access role you can copy from or assign as a fallback.
Create the role
- Go to Settings → Users & Permissions → Roles.
- Click Create Role.
- Enter a Role Name (for example,
Warehouse Operator) and an optional Description. - In the Permission Matrix, tick the permissions this role grants. To work through the long list:
- Search by permission name or action.
- Filter by Category — Accounting, Products, Sales Orders — to focus on one area.
- Use Select All to grant everything shown, or Clear All to start over.
- Click Save. The role appears in the list with its permission count.
Assign the role
- Go to the Users tab.
- On a user's row, click Assign roles (the shield icon).
- Select the role and confirm. The user's new access takes effect on their next action.
Admins and power users are unaffected by roles — an Admin always has full access.
Next steps
- Roles and permissions reference — how the catalog is organized and what each access level grants.
- Create and manage users — add the people you'll assign roles to.

A role bundles permissions you assign to users. In Settings, under Roles, click Create Role and give it a name. Tick the permissions it grants — search or filter to an area, then choose the actions. Save the role. Your new role is ready, with its permission count. Assign it to a user from the Users tab, and they see only what the role allows.
