Products list columns, search & filters reference
This is a lookup reference for the products list (the main products table) and for the search boxes and typeahead pickers that find products elsewhere in SKU.io. For the task of driving the list — searching, filtering, sorting, saving views — see Browse, search & filter the products list.
Before you begin
- Reading the list requires the products read scope. Row actions (archive, edit) require their own permissions — see Product permissions reference.
- Inventory numbers (On Hand, Available, In Transit, and the rest) are computed from real-time stock. For how those figures are derived across warehouses, FIFO layers, and opening balances, see the Inventory guide — this page only documents how the columns are labelled and combined for display.
Column selector
The toolbar Columns control opens the column selector, where you choose which columns are shown and in what order.
- Search the palette by column title, group, or type to narrow a long list quickly.
- Reorder visible columns by dragging. Locked columns and hidden columns keep their natural position.
- Locked columns (the image thumbnail, SKU, and the row actions menu) are marked Required — they're always shown and can't be toggled off or reordered. The image and actions columns are hidden from the palette entirely, so you never see them as toggle rows.
- Column choices and order are written to the page URL, so a saved view or a shared link reproduces the exact column layout.
Columns marked "Hidden by default" below are available in the selector but off until you turn them on.

Over 80 columns are available, grouped by facet. All columns except the computed cells map to a product field or a real-time inventory figure.

The Name column is expandable: long names truncate by default, and you can expand the column to show them in full without leaving the list.

The computed inventory cells
Four cells aren't stored fields — they're computed for display and carry a hover tooltip explaining the formula.
On Hand
On Hand is the sum of four sellable-and-non-sellable buckets, and it deliberately excludes In Transit:
On Hand = Available + Allocated + On Hold + Non-Sellable
Non-Sellable is included on purpose: stock sitting in QC, quarantine, or damaged bins is physically on hand even though you can't sell it, so it must count toward the on-hand total. The header tooltip reads "Available + Allocated + On Hold + Non-Sellable (excludes In Transit)."
When the product's stock unit of measure isn't EACH, the cell appends the UoM code (for example 12 CASE). See Units of measure reference.
Consigned chip. If any of the On Hand quantity is consigned (supplier-owned) stock, a purple consigned chip appears under the number showing the consigned quantity. Consigned stock is counted in On Hand and Available to Sell, but is excluded from inventory (GL) value until it sells. Hover the chip for that explanation.
Available to Sell
Available to Sell is the net promiseable position across all warehouses:
Available to Sell = Available − Backorder Planned − Backorder PO Covered
This value can be negative (rendered in red) when open commitments exceed on-hand stock — for example when you have promised more than you physically hold and the shortfall isn't yet covered by an incoming purchase order.
Total Inventory
Total Inventory adds the in-transit bucket back in — it's everything you own, whether physically present or already shipped to your locations:
Total Inventory = On Hand + In Transit
Non-Sellable
Non-Sellable is on-hand stock in non-sellable bins (QC, quarantine, damaged). It counts toward On Hand but isn't sellable, so it's broken out as its own column. Any value greater than zero is rendered in orange to flag it.
Product type badges
The Type column renders each product's type as a colored badge (plain colored text in the list, a chip on the product detail page). The same color map is used in both places.

Any unrecognized type falls back to grey.
A product's type determines which detail tabs and row actions appear. In particular, the types that carry their own tracked inventory are Standard, Kit, Blemished, and Manufactured — a matrix parent and a bundle don't hold stock of their own (a matrix's stock lives on its variations; a bundle's availability is derived from its components). How product search boxes behave
Every product search box and typeahead picker in SKU.io matches on SKU, Name, and Barcode, and hides archived products unless you ask for them.
How results are ranked. Exact and prefix matches always beat substring matches, in this order: exact SKU, exact barcode, exact name, then SKU/barcode/name "starts with", then SKU/name "contains". Typing a full SKU surfaces that exact product first even when many SKUs share the prefix. With the box empty, a picker shows your most recently created products so there's always something to choose from.
Individual pickers narrow the list further, depending on where they appear:

Barcode scanning is exact-match only — no partial or fuzzy matching. A scan matches a Barcode first, then falls back to an exact SKU, skipping archived products. A near-miss returns nothing rather than guessing.
Search stays available even if the index is down. Search normally runs against a search index rather than scanning the whole catalog. If that index is unavailable, SKU.io falls back automatically to a direct text search on SKU, name, and barcode — you won't see a failure, only a slightly slower result.
